Venice Hospital, Le Corbusier 1965 / Venice, Italy
When you arrive outside of Venice first go to the train station in Mestre, there you’ll find a platform between the two furthest platforms. On Sundays and Holidays a train will depart from this platform to take you to the Lagoon on its own set of tracks. As you approach the city a group of low lying buildings will appear on your left. You must signal the conductor to slow the train so you may take a tumbling jump followed by your suitcase. You will land slightly scratched on an open courtyard. This is the Venice Hospital. (27tth August 2012, Venice) Le Corbusier’s Venice Hospital is the paradigm for mat building organization. Its relationship to site is the overlay of autonomous logic onto organic urban fabric.
